Midterm Worksheet

Develop your idea

First and foremost I want to showcase my work in a creative way and be able to shift tones between each medium. I want my portfolio to be visually striking and feel like a 3D experience, not a website. I want it to be self aware, inviting, and not too polished.

Discovery and research

1. The Pudding

The Pudding is a digital publication that showcases visual essays. This is the exact kind of interactive approach I want to take with my website. This is also a super engaging form of journalism that I've never seen before, which is exciting and something I'd like to try to do with an article. The colors are super vibrant and striking and the art style changes with each article (I just happened to choose pixel art articles). Each animation is repeatable if you scroll back up. My favorite animation is in the last image where you are scrolling down, but the website moves horizontally.

2. Earth.fm

Earth.fm is a source for nature sounds uploaded from different parts of the world. My favorite part of the website is the click and draggable map that allows you to pinpoint exactly where the audio comes from. I don't particularly love the aesthetics of this site, but the function is so innovative and calming. This is the same type of way I want to display my work or maybe I'll save this for my political website...

Target Audience

My target audience is potential clients, art enthusiasts, and fans of interactive media. Yes, I want it to effectively showcase my work, but I am more interested in it giving an idea of my personality. With a collaborative brand like the one I'm trying to build, I need it to be clear that I am someone that loves to meet new people and have fun with a project.
